Richard S. (Ricky) Dewyea, of Tupper Lake, NY passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Vermont. He was born on January 15, 1952 in Tupper Lake, NY. the son of John C. and Gertrude (Clark) Dewyea. He attended schools in Long Lake and Tupper Lake and started working at Mercy General Hospital at age 16 and worked there until his early 20s, after that he worked at various jobs including Shaheens IGA and also did construction work for local contractors including John La Valley and Tim Larkin, retiring in the early 2000s due to his health.
Ricky is survived by his son Richard and his companion, Rebecca, daughter Sabrina and her companion Derric, grandchildren: Schyler, Audrey, Taylor, Cooper and Colton. He is also survived by his siblings, David (Sidonna)Dewyea, Terry Dewyea, Ruth Burnell, Daniel Dewyea, Lisa (Mark) Reed, Michael (Michele) Dewyea & James Dewyea, many nieces,
nephews, aunts and cousins.
Ricky was predeceased by his parents and a brother Jack Dewyea.
He was a longtime member of the Piercefield Fire Dept. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, September 15th from 12-2pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake, NY followed by a funeral service at 2pm at the funeral home. All are welcome to join the family at the K of C afterward. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Kiwanis Toys for Tots program.
