Obituary for Richard Leon "Dick" Parent

    Richard Leon "Dick" Parent
Richard “Dick” Leon Parent, 69, of 89 Lake Simond Road, Tupper Lake, NY, died peacefully on Sunday, July 23 2017.
He was born in Tupper Lake, NY on March 28, 1948.
He is survived by his son, Joe; his daughter, Kate; and his daughter-in-law, Ally.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Monica (Richer) Parent; his father, Hubert; and his mother, Ruth.
He served in the Navy from 1970 to 1972, and was honorably discharged in April, 1972.
Dick was well known around town as an avid hunter and fisherman. He owned and ran the Tip Top Sports Shop in Tupper Lake for many years, and loved to talk to his customers about the best fishing spots and the best hunting grounds. Both he and his wife Monica loved their Adirondack home.
Dick was gregarious, caring, and humble. He enjoyed living a simple life, joking around, and being a bit of a troublemaker. After he retired he spent his time fishing, grabbing a beer in town once in a while, and being an active member of the local Honor Guard. Dick was a true Tupper Lake local, and will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
There will be a graveside service with full military honors at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, followed by a gathering at the VFW in Tupper Lake.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW of Tupper Lake.
