Obituary for Theresa L Thatcher (Frechette)
Tupper Lake--- Theresa Loretta Thatcher, has been welcomed at heaven's door on December 25, 2015. Born in 1928 to Octave and Corina Frechette in Tupper Lake, NY, Theresa graduated salutatorian of her class at Holy Ghost Academy in 1946 followed by employment locally at the New York Telephone Co. She was married to Donald Thatcher in 1949, together nurturing a family of six children for fifty years. Years later Theresa retired from Mercy Living Center after many of service as a nurses aid. She was the founding member and president of the Tupper Lake chapter of the Legion of Mary. She spent thirty years in service to the St. Alphonsus Religious Ed program. Theresa received the Bishop's Certificate in 2003 for completing a two-year program for the Formation For Ministry. She was predeceased by her son Mark, husband Don, brother Marcel Frechette and sister Rita Peets. Theresa is survived by her brother Maurice Frechette and children Paul (Heidi) Thatcher, Jo Anne (Tom) Speight, Mary (David) Amoriell, Therese Ellis, John (Lorri) Thatcher, her twelve grand children and seven great grand children. Theresa possessed the rare and indelible quality of care giving. A genuine and courageous woman, she transformed lives through her everyday kindness and prayer. Calling hours will be held at Stuart- Fortune- Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake on Wednesday December 30th from 6 until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St Alphonsus church on Thursday December 31 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the Little Italy restaurant. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
