Lois Tice, 92
As the sun set over the lake, so did the life of our dear Mother and Grandmother. Lois Tice passed away peacefully on June 3, 2015, surrounded by her family.
Born on September 29, 1922 in Herman NY, she was the daughter of Leon and Florence O’Neil.
She graduated Valedictorian of her class from Herman High School in 1940 and in 1943, she graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Pilgrim State School of Nursing on Long Island. Lois then returned to live in Hermon, NY.
On January 14, 1949 Lois married the love of her life, Franklin Joseph Tice I, at St. St. Henry’s church in Dekalb Jct., NY.
In 1954 they moved to Tupper Lake and made their home on Second Street. Lois worked at Mercy General Hospital for 9 years, then at Sunmount DDSO as a Nurse Administrator until she retired in November 1977.
Lois was an active member of the Legion of Mary, Hospice and a volunteer at Mercy Living Center. She was also a lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Alphonsus Church. She was a former member of the Tupper Lake Country Club and was an avid golfer for many years. Lois also loved cross country skiing and spending time with her family.
Lois is survived by 4 children: Gary (Wanda) Tice of Knoxville TN, Addison “John” (Karen) Tice of Saranac Lake, Mary (Scott) Chartier of Tupper Lake, Stephen Tice of Tupper Lake, and one Daughter-In-Law, Catherine Tice of Tupper Lake. She is also survived by 12 Grandchildren: Matthew (Aimee) Tice, Beth (Scott) Watson, Eric (Tracy) Tice, Tori (Sava) Knezevich, Jasmine Tice, Zachary (Jenna) Chartier, Jacob (Flower) Chartier, Frank (Jen) Tice, Joseph Tice, Kristin (Curtis) Tice, Jennifer (Nick) Tice, Nina (Paul) Tice, and 12 Great Grandchildren whom she loved and adored.
Lois was predeceased by her husband, Frank Tice, in 1999. And by five children: Catherine, Franklin II, Paul, Patrick, and David. She was also predeceased by her parents, her two brothers; Robert and Frank, and four sisters; Marion, Ellen, Ida, and Edith.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Church on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 11am. A burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
