    Obituary for Walter Woods

    Walter  Woods
    Walter (Woody) Woods Jr., 88, passed away Saturday, April 21 surrounded by family at Mercy Living Center. Born in Dickinson Center on April 23, 1929, he was the son of Walter and Bernice (LaVair) Woods. In 1950 he was married to Anita Gonyea. Walter was a proud veteran of the Korean war serving from 1952-1954 and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze service stars. In 1959, he was employed by N.Y. State and retired in 1985. He enjoyed restoring old cars and campers, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Moose Club. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Beaudette and her husband Sherman. His grandchildren; Tracy LaFlamme and her partner Matthew Harris, Nicole Logie, Peter Beaudette and his wife Shannon. His great grandchildren; Kevin Becker, Merryl, Madelyn and Sawyer Logie, Madison Vachon and Jenifer and Ashley Harris. Two sisters; Gail Abare and Trudie Pickering and her husband Leroy. Three sisters-in-law; Charlotte Gonyea, Shirley Gonyea and Connie Woods. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anita, his daughter, Donna Latray, two sons, David and Ricky and two grandchildren; Wendy and Wesley Lanthier along with his two brothers, James and Lester. There will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 30th, at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine church in N. Bangor. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with full military honors. Memorial donations may be made to the Mercy Living Center Activities dept. Funeral arrangements are with the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home.
