Obituary for Susan A. Provost (Edwards)

Susan A. Provost passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at her home in Tupper Lake, NY with her husband Paul by her side. Susan was born on September 8, 1953 to Nancy and Stan Edwards in Agawam, MA.


She graduated from Utica College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Therapy.
Susan moved to Tupper Lake in 1975 and began her career at Sunmount DDSO. She retired as Head Occupational Therapist after 33 years in June of 2009. Susan also worked alongside her husband Paul, operating their family business, Hemlock Hall Resort in Blue Mountain Lake.


Susan was an avid outdoors woman, spending her free time downhill skiing and kayaking with friends and family. She also enjoyed crafting and had an expansive Barbie and doll collection.


Susan was passionate about her community and helping others. Susan was a Girl Scout during her youth and a dedicated Boy Scout Scoutmaster as an adult. For many years she led Sunday School and was also a Deacon at the United Community Church. Susan’s other contributions to the Tupper Lake Community included being a Board Member of the Adirondack Credit Union from 1975 until her death, volunteering with the Big Tupper Ski Patrol and a being a member of the Tupper Lake chapter of Business and Professional Woman from 1978 until its dissolution in 2006 where she held various positions including President, Vice President, and Treasurer.


Susan is survived by her husband, of 36 years, Paul; son, Anthony; daughter-in-law, Chelsea; mother, Nancy (MacBride) Edwards, of Agawam, MA; brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Debbie Edwards, of Richardson, TX; mother-in-law, Theresa Provost, of Tupper Lake, NY; along with several cousins and nieces/nephews. Susan was predeceased by her father, A. Stanley Edwards and father-in-law, Roy Provost.

Calling hours are scheduled for Saturday, December 16 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM with a service at 4:00 PM at Stuart Fortune Keough Funeral Home at 24 Cliff Ave. Tupper Lake, NY.
