    Obituary for Lee C. Hovey

    Lee C.  Hovey
    Lee Clarence Hovey, 79 of Tupper Lake, NY passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 at Adirondack Medical Center. He was born on July 19, 1938 in Tupper Lake, NY. He was the son of Clarence and Laura (Bone) Hovey. Lee left High School in his junior year in order to serve his country in the United States Navy. He returned and graduated from Holy Ghost Academy with the class of 1959. Lee married Barbara Pelno on January 20, 1962 in Tupper Lake, NY.
    Lee is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara, four children: John Hovey, Lynn (Floyd) Reandeau of Tupper Lake, James (Beth) Hovey of Adamstown, Maryland and Leann (Shane) Baldwin. His surviving grandchildren: Jaimee Cutwright, Ryan Poirier, Jennifer Hovey and Megan Poirier; three great grandchildren: Matthew and Maddox Kanu and Carlee Toohey. He is also survived by one brother, Richard Hovey and his wife Patricia of New Windsor, NY and one sister, Sandra Mitchell and her husband Thomas of Scottsdale, Arizona; several nieces and nephews.
    Lee was predeceased by his parents.
    He served in the Navy from April 1956 and was honorably discharged in July 1959.
    Lee retired from the Department of Transportation in June 1994 after 32 years.
    Lee was well known around town and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Rod and Gun Club and the Honorary member of River Ridge Hunting Club.
    Calling hours are scheduled for Thursday, September 7 from 4 to 7 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 8 at 1:00 pm at St. Alphonsus Church.
