    TUPPER LAKE-
    Majeed Maroun, 84, of Tupper Lake, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 24. Born July 20, 1933 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Camil and Naivie (Moses) Maroun. He attended local schools and graduated from Tupper Lake High class of 1951. He attended St. Lawrence University for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served in Japan during the Korean war from 1952-54. Majeed was employed with the U.S. Postal Service retiring as Assistant Postmaster after 34 years of service. He also owned and operated Travelers Inn from 1968-1982. He was married to the former Heather Pernice. She pre-deceased him on May 10, 2017. Majeed was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his step daughter Darcy Lawn, stepsons, Dennis and Darren Debien and 4 grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers; Dr. William C. and Carol Fuller and Camil G. and his wife Ellen as well as a large extended family. He was pre-deceased by

    a brother Reverend George F. Maroun. Calling hours are scheduled for Sunday, August 27 from 4 to 7 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
