    D`Arcy Touchette
Long Lake, New York – D’Arcy Fernand Touchette died on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake, New York.

Born on February 16, 1930 in Ste. Martine, Quebec, D’Arcy was the son of Louis and Blanche (Poissant) Touchette.

Trained as an electrical lineman, D’Arcy helped build high-tension power lines across northern Canada, Greenland, the Northwest Territories, and west through the Canadian plains into British Columbia. In 1955, D’Arcy came to the United States and worked as a bonded electrician for Bradley and Williams of Syracuse, New York, as a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #1249. In 1960, D’Arcy married Patricia Sullivan of Long Lake New York, and in 1968, became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

D’Arcy and Patricia purchased The Shamrock Motel and Cottages in Long Lake in 1965, and owned and operated it for 41 years before retiring. During this time, Darcy worked as an electrician at National Lead Industries in Tahawus, New York, until its closing in 1974, and expanded the Shamrock properties on Long Lake to include additional cottages, a chipping golf course, recreation building, and outbuildings, many of which he designed and constructed himself. In 1978, Darcy once again put on his climbing gear to serve as crew chief in the rebuilding of electric power grids necessary to support the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Sullivan) Touchette; son Timothy and wife Beate Touchette of Long Lake; daughter Linda and husband Christopher Delello and granddaughter Olivia Delello of Granby, Connecticut; a brother and sister-in-law, Rodrigue and Augusta Touchette of Salberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, as well as many nieces, nephews and their children.

D’Arcy was predeceased by his brothers Jean-Marie Touchette of Howick, Quebec; Maurice Touchette of Joliet, Quebec; Roger Touchette of Ste. Martine, Quebec; and a sister, Therese Touchette of Ste. Martine, Quebec.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church in Long Lake on Saturday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at the Long Lake cemetery.

The Touchette family would like to thank the Long Lake Rescue Squad and the outstanding caregivers of Mercy Living Center for their support and service over the past years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Long Lake Rescue Squad or Mercy Living Center of Tupper Lake, NY.
