Marshall J. “Boogie” Godin, Jr., age 74 of Tupper Lake, N.Y. and Port Charlotte, FL. passed away peacefully, after battling cancer, at his Florida residence on Friday, July 22, 2016 with his wife, Debbie and children Paula and Darryl at his side.
He was born in Tupper Lake on March 3, 1942, the son of Marshall and Beulah Godin. He graduated from Holy Ghost Academy in 1960. He attended Canton ATC and North Country Community College. He entered into the New Your State Police Academy in 1965 retiring in 1988 with 23 years of service. After retiring he started up his own remodeling business. He was also a caretaker for several camps in the area.
On September 10, 1982 he married Debbie LaQuay who survives him.
He is also survived by two children Paula (Reynaldo) Tayag of Manchester, N.H. and Darryl (Deidre) Godin of Lake Placid, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Matthew Emily and Jennifer Godin and Gabrielle Tayag. He is also survived by two brothers Francis (Rosemary) and Stephen (Barbara) Godin both of Tupper Lake, N.Y. and one sister Susan Boni of Goffstown, N.H. He is also survived by four bothers-in-law Robert (Viola) and Randy LaQuay of California. Richard and Terry (Heidi) LaQuay both of Tupper Lake and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Marshall and Beulah (LeBlanc) Godin and one brother-in-law, Gary LaQuay of Tupper Lake.
Calling hours will take place at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday, July 31 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 1 at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
