Mary Monica (Richer)Parent, 66, passed away at her home surrounded by friends and family on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Katherine and her father Marcel, her sister Rita and her brother, Thom. She is survived by her husband Richard, her daughter Kate and her son Joe and his wife Allyson. Also surviving are two sisters; Anne Munn and her husband Dave and Marcella Richer and her life partner Mark Rule, two brothers Jerry and Michael as well as Michaels wife Eileen and her sister-in-law Diann Richer as well as several nieces and nephews. Monica loved her Adirondack home. a Tupper Lake native, she grew up skiing at Big Tupper, boating on the lake and hiking these beautiful mountains. In later years, she volunteered at several organizations, including Mercy Healthcare Center and the Wild Center. She also pursued her love of traveling, both throughout the U.S. and abroad. Monica was a teacher at Long Lake Central School for 38 years. She will be sorely missed by her fellow retired teachers and many of her former students. Most anyone who knew Monica will remember her enormous heart, he generous and loving soul and her infinite strength. Calling hours will be from 2-4 pm on Thursday, March 24 with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at the Wild Center, Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks in Tupper Lake. Arrangements are with the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to High Peaks Hospice or the Wild Center.
