    Muriel J.  Ginsberg (Ginsberg)
    Muriel Ginsberg, 106, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2015 at her home surrounding by her loved ones who provided her care.
    Born in Tupper Lake, New York on November 12, 1909. She was the daughter of Mose and May Ginsberg who deceased prior along with her beloved sister Augusta (Ginsberg) Singer, Ruth Kelly who she considered to be like a second sister. She graduated Tupper Lake High School in 1926 and graduated from Syracuse University’s School of Management in 1930 and later earned her MBA from New York University. Muriel began a career in retailing in New York City and later returned to Tupper Lake to work alongside her parents at the historic Ginsberg Department Store. She continued to manage the longest family owned business in the state until 1981. Ginsberg family spent 84 years with doors open to their high end dept. store with all the latest fashions made of quality materials. Cited by Albany as the oldest family owned & operated recognized as a commercial landmarked store by NY State in the 70’s. She devoted the rest of her life to make the community of Tupper Lake a better place.
    Muriel chose to reside in Tupper Lake, but her influence knew no boundaries. She received endless awards & accolades for her active participation and love for the surrounding communities. She sponsored many organizations such as Girl Scouts, the Salvation Army, Red Cross, Mercy General Hospital, AMC, Blue mt. Museum, The Observatory, the Wild Center, and the Beth Joseph Synagogue she personally wrote to people to help with the restoration, The Ginsberg’s scholarships in TLHS, NCCC, Paul Smiths College and Syracuse University with her million dollar endowment as an ALUMNI. She enjoyed Bridge, golf and cross country skiing and traveling the world. Muriel was also a member of the first women’s basketball team from 1923-24. Continued at Syracuse as a field hockey player and joined the Women’s Syracuse Basketball team .
    All of her accomplishment came as a result of her desire to follow her fathers example of "KINDNESS TO STRANGERS". Adding to her compassion and devotion to humanity. She will be remembered for her zest for life, her bold and animated one of a kind personality, her selfless heart, and her charm and wisdom. She spoke what was on her mind but always followed her heart. She always sat at the head of the table with a regally grand presence that commanded respect but felt like comfort and grace as she fed and drank providing to any in her home. Her door was open and received all race, creeds, colors and financial status. Her curiosity for all things culturally diverse was vibrant. She has inspired and enhanced the lives of her family and friends. Muriel thought money "could be a curse", but she turned it into a blessing. By sharing and supporting thru gift and donations to family friends and her passion about the community and good will for the entire world. Words cannot express all Muriel has done throughout her long amazing life.
    Survived by her niece Suzanne Singer ,her husband Max, and their sons , spouses and great great nieces and nephews. Also her niece Linda Simon, husband Melvin their two sons ,daughter their spouses and great , great nieces and nephew. Cousins, Janet Chapman, Bobbie Muscat , Edward Ginsberg, and their families.

    Additionally her handpicked adopted family to provide her care and share her last years celebrating her life in her residence Muville. Angee, Chelsea, Courtney, Caterra, Matthew Corrow, Laura Martin, Erika Thomas and the original Olive Baillargeon aka Team Mu.
    Burial services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Beth Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at Stuart-Fortune Funeral Home on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. A reception will follow calling hours at the Wild Center.
