He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria Burnet Fletcher, three children and their spouses Susan Terrenzio (Tony), Jerry Fletcher (Meg), and Laurie West (Gary), 10 grandchildren (Amy, Jim, Terra, Kyle, Beth, Jason, Jeff, Michelle, Sara, Marcie), and 12 great grandchildren (JanCarlos, Anthony, Brayden, Juliana, Derek, Colton, Isaac, Ella, Luke, Ryane, Henry, Molly). Douglas served in the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart for service in the Korean War. He worked for the NY State Conservation Department until his retirement in 1991, where he was able to use his love of the outdoors to develop horse trails and the 1980 Winter Olympic Cross country trails in Lake Placid, NY. He loved trail riding on horseback, deer hunting, and teasing his grandchildren. We are truly blessed to have "the bravest cowboy we ever knew", our Pop, in our lives for so long.
