    Obituary for Dorwin Douglas Fletcher

    Dorwin Douglas Fletcher
Dorwin Douglas Fletcher, 87, died October 22, 2015 at Canton-Potsdam hospital. Douglas was born August 19, 1928 in Skerry, NY son of Dorwin and Laura (Curtis) Fletcher. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria Burnet Fletcher, three children and their spouses Susan Terrenzio (Tony), Jerry Fletcher (Meg), and Laurie West (Gary), 10 grandchildren (Amy, Jim, Terra, Kyle, Beth, Jason, Jeff, Michelle, Sara, Marcie), and 12 great grandchildren (JanCarlos, Anthony, Brayden, Juliana, Derek, Colton, Isaac, Ella, Luke, Ryane, Henry, Molly). His siblings, Edgar Fletcher, Ada Trimm, Earl Fletcher, Dora Trimm, Iva Fountain, Ted Fletcher and Fee Perkins preceded him in death. He has one surviving sibling, June Hutchins and several nieces and nephews with a special thanks to Fletch and Dora Ann Trimm for all their help and support through the years.

Douglas served in the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart for service in the Korean War. He worked for the NY State Conservation Department until his retirement in 1991, where he was able to use his love of the outdoors to develop horse trails and the 1980 Winter Olympic Cross country trails in Lake Placid, NY. He loved trail riding on horseback, deer hunting, and teasing his grandchildren. We are truly blessed to have "the bravest cowboy we ever knew", our Pop, in our lives for so long.

No calling hours. Funeral services will be held this Saturday 10/24/2015 at 10:00 AM in Lakeview Cemetery, Hosely Road, Tupper Lake, NY. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Potsdam Vol. fire department. Online condolences may be made at www.stuartfortunekeoughfuneralhome.com.
