Heaven got a new angel when Dorothy Evelyn Young, 90, died at home in
Tupper Lake, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer on August 4,
2015.
Dot, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on November 3,
1924 in Barton, Vermont to Mabel and Alfred LeClair. She was united in
marriage to Paul E. Young on June 26, 1954. Dot meticulously and tenderly
cared for her husband at home for many years as he suffered from
Alzheimer's Disease until his death on August 10, 2009, after 55 years of
marriage.
Dot was also predeceased by her grandson, Steven W. Young and brother Elwin
LeClair. She is survived by her children, who loved her dearly; Robert
Young and his wife Nancy of Loudon, NH; Wayne Young of Tupper Lake; Deborah
LaFave of Concord, NH; James Young of Franklin, NH, and Roger Young of
Laconia, NH; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren (with one expected
the day after her birthday), and 7 great-great-grandchildren! She is also
survived by brothers Maurice, Earl, and Carroll LeClair and her sister
Alfreda Leonard.
Dot was a very devoted and loving Mom, who was filled with compassion and
interest in helping others. If you needed anything, she was there to help.
She was an avid walker, generally walking several miles each day when able.
She also loved to read, sew and crochet. You could also find her outside
mowing the lawn in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter, even at the
age of 90! She loved spending time with her family and friends,
especially when playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 14 at 2:30 p.m., at
the Holy Name church, 114 Main Street, Tupper Lake, NY. Interment
is at Holy Name Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:30, at the
