Dean Ellis, 50, of Tupper Lake, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He graduated from Tupper Lake Central School in 1981 and resided in Tupper Lake most of his life. Although the victim of a motor vehicle accident in 1985 that left him paralyzed, he insisted on living an independent and productive life. Dean worked full-time at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation Center in Saranac Lake and managed his own apartment building. He made many friends during his employment at St. Josephs and truly enjoyed helping those in need. Dean enjoyed working with his hands, watching movies, good conversation and was rarely found without a cup of coffee nearby. He was a pillar of strength to those who knew him and had to be admired for his independence and ingenuity.
Dean was the son of Anthony and Dawn (Hutchins) Ellis who both predeceased him. He is survived by his sister Mary Keniston and her husband Chris of Tupper Lake; three brothers: Naja of Lynn, MA; Anthony and his wife Carrie of Omaha, NE; James of Los Angeles, CA: and seven nieces and nephews were the apple of his eye. Dean was well known as a proud and caring person who will be missed by many.
Calling hours are scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a service at 6pm on Friday, July 12th, at the Stuart-Fortune- Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake with burial to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
